I really didn’t know what to expect with this product from the description, but I ordered it as the manufacturer recommended its use prior to painting. Upon receiving it and reading the product composition and application instructions, I see that the chemistry involved is quite sound. It is a phosphate/zinc composition that forms an iron phosphate passivation layer on the metal and the zinc compound then provides (albeit thin) a galvanized surface layer. Worked very well when used as directed. It is important to keep the surface wet for 20 minutes as they direct so the chemical reactions can take place.

Remove all four wheels from vehicle. Calipers don’t need to be removed. Don’t remove brake line. Clean surfaces to be painted with POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser. Spray on the cleaner and brush the dirt, grease and grime with a small scrub brush or toothbrush. Wear protective gloves and glasses when cleaning your calipers. Read directions on POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser container before using. Rinse cleaned caliper thoroughly with water and dry with clean towel. Now apply POR-15 Metal Prep and keep surface wet for 20 minutes and then wash off POR-15 Metal Prep with water and dry thoroughly.
